It only takes a few minutes to remove the screws, pull out the old element, install the new element, and put the screws back in. MP21YA Stove Burner Element has a protective coating on it to protect the surface. When the burner element is used for the first time, the protective coating will evaporate a little smoke at high temperatures, this is normal. The customer will continue to use the stove burner for about 20 minutes and it will not smoke. NOTE: Always unplug the burner or turn off the circuit breaker before installation.
